I was born and raised in East Saint, Louis Illinois. Growing up in East Saint Louis, I had my share of challenges, including trying to find myself after high school. My mother was somewhat disappointed in me not focusing on what I wanted out of life. Her advice was, "Go make a man out of yourself."
I took her advice and in May of 1985 I moved to Atlanta, Georgia with $200.00 in my pocket. Prior to leaving home I prayed many nights, asking God to lead me in the right direction.
Because of my faith in God and confidence in myself, He made a way for me. As I was out looking for a job, I saw a Salvation Army nearby. I moved into that Salvation Army for two months, where I was able to work and get paid daily. I had a temporary assignment that eventually led to permanent employment. Within three months, I was able to save money and move out of the Salvation Army. This allowed me to move into my first apartment and I was no longer homeless! Shortly thereafter, I enrolled in college. After earning my associate
s degree, I began working at King & Spalding, working there for five years. In 1997 I started my own business, Bradley Carpet Cleaning, which led to me purchasing my very first house. Years later I worked at several more prominent law firms -- Arnall Golden and Gregory, Hunton & Williams, Baker Hostetler and CNN's legal department. Given my personal experience with homelessness, I have a strong desire to give back to the community. I am constantly reminded every day how far God has brought me. This is the mission God has for me. I live on faith. Delay is not denial!
